In this How-to,
We use a Surge XT Hybrid Synth LV2 Plugin with the Carla Plugin Host App on a Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy Jellyfish (This can be done on a Windows PC or a Mac as well)
This video is divided into the following chapters:
1) Why connect a Keyboard (Yamaha PSR I-455) to a Laptop running Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish version at all? Why Bother when the Yamaha is giving a decent sound? Will a FreeSynth be that good?
2) Requirements- You would need any basic Keyboard with USB (or Legacy) MIDI out and a basic Laptop (I am running Ubuntu on a Dell Core i3 8th Gen) and obviously the interconnecting cable and earphones or a speaker to listen to the output of the synth
3) How to connect the Keyboard (Wiring/Interconnects)
4) Setup JACK on Ubuntu so that Carla Plugin Host can work
