How to play PlayStation 2 Games on your Mac (PS2 emulation on macOS)

For years Windows has had a huge lead in emulating the Sony PlayStation 2 thanks to PCSX2, but recently, there’s been traction on updating the mac port of PCSX2, now complete with Metal (Apple’s Graphics API) support. This recent development makes performance better than ever for Mac users. PCSX2 also has a mobile offshoot, AetherSX2, that has now been brought to macOS for Apple Silicon users. This port is much faster for Apple Silicon, making it even modest M1 Macs are capable of emulating a PS2.

Emulation generally exists in a legally grey area as the emulators are legal but the software they run is copyrighted. It is possible to obtain the software legally, especially games for the PS2. The games I used were from my personal collection. Please do not ask me for copyrighted materials (Games/Bios).
