This is an on going issue with MacBooks that for some reason hasn’t been dealt with by Apple.
The tolerance between the keyboard and the screen is so tiny that nearly all MacBooks will suffer from this issue. The keys and the base itself rub against the screen and over the it slowly removes the anti-glare coating from the screen leaving and imprint that looks horrible at certain angles.
Apple are aware of this issue but it seems like they just try to let it slide under the radar and bank on not many people noticing it.

Luckily, if you bought your laptop from Apple in the UK you should be covered under consumer law but even that can be dismissed by Apple as the wording in the consumer law says that you can request it but Apple don’t always accept it.
